The Des Peres Park Playground Master Plan was based on a detailed site analysis of existing conditions, current use, and citizen input through community engagement sessions. The new playground occupied the space that once held an unused, deteriorated basketball court. The location is very visible from other park areas, such as the baseball fields and tennis courts. The new playground includes many different features such as two separate play structures (one for children between the ages of 2 and 5 years old and one for children between the ages of 5 and 12 years old). The playground also includes multiple climbing features, a roller slide, a two-bay swing and a we-go-round. Aside from the play equipment, there are multiple seating areas and a small path that circles the playground. The addition of inclusive equipment allowed for the project to be featured by West Newsmagazine as well as multiple social media influencers.
