As part of a multi-disciplinary team, Planning Design Studio created the site plan for a new downtown performing arts center. Various concept plans were initially developed; each exploring alternatives for public plazas, parking, landscape, stormwater treatment and evaluating the reuse of the adjoining Public Works site. The final design was worked into a set of detailed construction documents and features the following:

-
An entrance plaza, designed to be artistic and sculptural in form, with a series of cantilevered platforms that double as functional seat walls
-
A custom handrail, designed to complement the interior railings in the building, lit underneath with LED lights to illuminate the steps on the plaza platforms
-
A decorative sign wall, that flanks one side of the main entry platforms, made from dark-colored concrete to match the colors in the architecture of the performing arts center.
-
Landscape plantings designed to bring color, form, and a human scale to both compliment and contrast the grand architecture of the building—Additional planting areas were designed to help treat and filter stormwater in raingardens and plating beds.
