As the weather warms up, it’s the perfect time to explore some of the best parks in the area. At Planning Design Studio, we've had the pleasure of working on a variety of parks throughout the area, each offering a variety of amenities for both children and adults. We’re thrilled to showcase some of our favorite parks and recreational facilities that you must visit!
Des Peres Park
12325 Manchester Rd, Des Peres, MO 63131

Des Peres Park has recently updated several amenities to enhance the visitor experience. One significant upgrade to the park was the renovation of the existing tennis courts. The area now boasts a modern court complex with six newly updated tennis courts and three dedicated pickleball courts. Adding to its appeal is an adjoining shuffleboard court, offering a fun and relaxing activity for visitors waiting their turn to play tennis or pickleball.
The newest enhancement to Des Peres Park is the fully updated playground with age-appropriate play structures, climbing equipment, a swing set, a roller slide, and a we-go-round. Not only is the playground a great place for children to play, but it also includes features that assist children with both physical and mental disabilities. The playground also includes a small, looped walking path, allowing guardians to stay active while keeping their children in sight.
In addition to the court complex and playground, the park offers multiple pavilions, an event lawn, a scenic pond, baseball and soccer fields, and a network of trails that wind throughout the area.
Broemmelsiek Park
1650 Schwede Rd, Wentzville, MO 63385

Broemmelsiek Park has been enhanced with many unique amenities, including a modern visitor center with meeting spaces, a park ranger field office, and a scenic patio overlooking the fishing lake. Park goers can actually learn more about the park through various imagery depicting the history of the land, along with native species and wildlife.
There are hilltop shelter complexes that boast scenic views of the surrounding prairies as well as the central lake. There are multiple playgrounds located throughout the park, as well as a trail system that connects to the various amenities within the park. Additional features include an expansive boardwalk, a lakeside picnic shelter, and an off-leash dog park.
Adaptive Sports Complex at South County Family YMCA
12736 Southfork Rd, St. Louis, MO 63128

Located next to the South County Family YMCA, the new Adaptive Sports Complex was built on a portion of property that was occupied by three underutilized baseball fields and a running track. The new complex features a Miracle League Baseball Field, an all-inclusive playground, a soccer field, and a 1/4-mile exercise loop. Enhancing the functionality of the site, the Miracle League Field is supported by two new buildings: a concession and storage facility, and a restroom building equipped with four individual/family toilet rooms, each including adult changing tables.
Brentwood Park
2924 Brazeau Ave, Brentwood, MO 63144

Brentwood Park has numerous amenities in this new park, such as a destination playground featuring water play and adventure climbing, as well as an event lawn that hosts many different community events. The retention pond and central lake feature a boardwalk, perimeter walking path, and amphitheater. And for the avid cyclist or runner, the park is also the focus of two intersecting greenways.
