Over a year –long planning process, Planning Design Studio headed a team of recreation professionals to complete a Parks and Recreation Master Plan for St. Louis County. The plan included inventory and assessment of over 70 park sites, encompassing over 12,500 acres of park land that currently serves approximately one million residents.  

Our planning process included park assessments and analysis reports, site visits to each park, and a demographics and benchmarking study.  We incorporated extensive public involvement with 13 public meetings, 30+ user group meetings, 10 working committee meetings and 836 respondents to a needs assessment survey.  The result was an action plan for park improvements over the next 15 years, which identifies over $500 million in reinvestment.
